As we prepare for a new year, this is when we start getting a whole bunch of emails in our inbox with people trying to motivate us and pump us up for the coming year…

Well, being pumped up is good, but that alone is not going to grow your business. Without business growth, your business is in danger. But, I don’t see any reason why 2010 can’t be the best year of growth and profits for your business!

Here are 6 ways to grow your business in 2010:

1. Reach Out To Where Your Customers Are.

Many times business owners wait for customers to find them. So make it a point to really take the time to know who your customers are, where they hang out and then go there! Connect with them and show them you are a real person with real solutions to their problems.

2. Kill The Vampires!

I call time suckers “vampires”, because these are the kinds of people, places and things that suck all the life out of you and your business. Your time is one of the most valuable things you have, protect it! Make it a point to only invest your time in people and things that have a purpose and a good ROI.

3. Back To The Drawing Board.

Take the time to examine your current business model. Examine which marketing strategies you are using and how well they are working. Get rid of the ones that aren’t working and focus on the ones that are. With the old dead ones out of the way, you can now start testing new marketing strategies and see how they work.

4. Focus on Building a Tribe of Loyal Customers.

This should be a HUGE focus for any business owner! When you build a Tribe of loyal customers, they are going to come back and buy more. They are going to spread the word about your new products, services, etc. This is where using live events and social media tools come in real handy.

5. Up, Up and Away!

If you aren’t upselling, you need to be! Your profits can grow rapidly when this is done right. It can be as simple as offering something relevant to your customer while they are handing you’re their credit card or using the right technology on your web sites where your customers will see “one time offer” pages and upsale offers. (Just FYI, 1shopping cart now offers an one click upsell feature)

6. Spend Some Money On YOU.

This is something we all like to do… Now it is time to invest in yourself and by doing so, you are investing in your business. Take a break and get refreshed so you can think straight and so you don’t burn yourself out. Also, spend the money and invest in a good coaching program or training series. If you invest in the right ones, this will open you up to new marketing strategies and tactics and much more business growth.

I truly hope you have the best year you have ever had in 2010!

No matter what, keep moving forward!
