Many business owners that I talk to understand they need a web site to create a web presence, but most of them don’t really understand why. If you as a business owner don’t understand why you should have a web site, you are going to be wasting a LOT of time and money…
Using the Internet and Internet Marketing Strategies is extremely smart for a business owner. It doesn’t matter why kind of business you are in, the Internet opens your playing field big time!
Due to the popularity of blogs, I highly recommend skipping the traditional HTML web sites and use a Self-hosted Wordpress Blog and here are five reasons why…
1. Easier To Use.
With Wordpress you don’t have to be an HTML expert to have a good looking site. There are thousands and thousands of free and paid Wordpress themes to choose from, all you need to do is a Google search to find them. Some themes are as simple as drag and drop where you want different features to be on your site.
2. SEO Friendly.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) friendly means, you can get found in the search engines easier. I spoke with a business owner who just paid to have his site built and hosted by a well known Domain company. As soon as I looked at it I knew it would never be found in the search engines… And to thid day, it still can’t be found.
What everyone needs to understand is, if you are not going to be found in the search engines you are NOT going to be getting any traffic to your site. Which now makes your site pretty pointless.
Wordpress gives you features and offers plugins which allow you to insert key words you are trying to get ranked for. All around, Wordpress is just a better way to go.
3. Interaction With Your Customers/Readers.
One of the reason why blogs have become popular is because the readers can express their thoughts after reading an article. Using the Wordpress Blogging Platform is your start to building an online community or Tribe. When used correctly, your blog can become a great way to connect with other like-minded people, attract customers, Joint Ventures and more. There is much more to be said about this topic, which we will get into at a later time.
4. The Connecting Piece – Social Media Friendly.
A lot of you are taking advantage of all the amazing Social Media Marketing Strategies out there such as, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Your Blog is the connecting factor for all of these to come together. You can easily add Social Media Icons to your site which allows your readers to connect with you on those other Social Networking Sites. You can also easily add Youtube videos you have made to your blog and not to mention, you can also add podcasts (audio recordings) as well. Being able to do this can be a powerful way for you to accomplish the things you have set out to do.
5. It Is Very Inexpensive To Do.
I have been shocked and amazed by how much many web designers charge to build even a simple one page web site! Crazy amounts! With Wordpress is it super easy and very affordable. Really all you need to get things rolling is a domain name and a hosting account. I personally recommend using a Hosting service like Hostgator which offers a feature called Cpanel. Cpanel allows you with two clicks of the mouse to upload the Wordpress software to your domain name. Piece of cake! Plus, you are looking at spending about $7-10 a month.
There is still many more advantages to using the Wordpress Software compared to the traditional HTML sites. When you are deciding which you are going to go with remember:
- Keep it easy.
- Make sure you will be found in the search engines.
- Keep it affordable.
- Keep it looking professional.
Until next time, keep moving forward!

Thank you Warren. I hope that does help… Business Blogging is a great way to go!
You have a great weekend as well.
Exactly the reasons I give my clients Paul. Wordpress to me is like a no-brainer, too. I absolutely love all the functionality and its ease of use!

Thanks for stopping by Christine! You’re absolutely right… “a no-brainer!” I have heard multiple horror stories where entrepreneurs have used other blog platforms and got shut down… they lost everything.
Bummer deal!
Keep up the great work Christine!
Hi Paul,
Great advice! So many are missing out by putting their blog on their website rather than taking advantage of the perks you mentioned by keeping them separate. Thanks for sharing.

You pretty much summed up the necessary steps that any business owner should take.

It’s all about putting yourself out there and going for it.
Interacting with people and genuinely caring about their well being will get us so much further in our online ventures.
