If you own a storefront business, marketing online might not be in the front of your mind, but it should be! You may have heard terms like Social Media Marketing, Facebook, Twitter and so on. These are powerful marketing tools that should NOT be overlooked.
I’m not going to get into what each tools is, but I want to give you a picture of how Social Media Marketing can and should be used to help you grown your offline business just as much as an online business…
There are many blind leading the blind and I don’t want that to be you! So just because you see another person or business using facebook to try to grow their business, doesn’t mean you should follow exactly what they are doing.
There are many people out there who are using Social Media to spam people, this WILL kill your business faster than anything!
So before you go setup a Twitter account to tell the world how cool your business is, you need to make sure you are in the right mindset. There are three main things you need to remember:
1. You are there to help and add value to others.
2. You are a leader.
3. You are also here to make money and put food on the table.
Spammers just worry about the 3rd one, they don’t care about people or their reputation. So don’t be one of those!
Because you are a leader and have access to some amazing tools online, you are out to build a loyal following, a tribe of people who will listen to what you have to say… and buy from you.
When you start to look at things that way, your Social Media tactics change. You are out to build a tribe, unlike your competitors.
Now, you might be thinking, “this guy has no clue what my business is about, I don’t get how social media or building a tribe will help my business!” And that’s okay. You will!
We will be getting more into this topic in future blog posts, be sure to subscribe to our RSS feed to keep updated.
So for now I want you to sit down and look at your current business model. Does it include helping others and adding value to them? Or is it just to serve them what they want and get them out the door? See the difference? Now put yourself in their shoes, which one would you want to experience?
People are looking for something to belong to, don’t miss out on a great opportunity to build your tribe.
Like I said, we will be getting more into this in future blog posts and our newsletter, so if you haven’t subscribed to our newsletter, make sure you do so on our home page!
For now, go get yourself an account with Twitter, facebook, youtube, etc. and be sure to use the name you are wanting to brand.
Keep moving forward!
