Small Business Saving Money Tips – Part 1

by Paul Cooley on July 15, 2009

phone-billMost small business owners are looking for ways to save money. Today I want to share with you a money saving tip that you may not think about…. Every month you receive a phone bill in the mail, you probably don’t give it much though. You just pay it and move on to other bills.

Unless there is some big change in your phone bill, why would you think twice about it? Here are some statistics…

“90% of all phone bills and 70% of all utility bills contain errors. Many of those errors end up conting companies thousands of dollars in overpaid bills.” – The Northeast Herald

“Over 94% of all bills the phone companies (local and long distance) send out are wrong. As telephone companies introduce more services and the bills get more components and thus more complex, the billing gets worse.” – Teleconnect Magazine

“A utility does not automatically give an industrial or commercial customer the best rate when more than one rate is availible. It is up to the customer to select the most advantageous rate.” – The Wall Street Journal

Kinda scary huh? It pays to pay attention to these things. You could be paying much more than you should be. The same holds true for cell phone companies. I know I have had some run ins with my cell phone provider, I have learned, if it doesn’t look right…. It’s probably isn’t.  It’s the little things the slip by that can end up costing you more than you would have ever thought. So next time you get a bill in the mail, take a closer look.

Keep moving forward!
